Fearing societal disgrace, Soedjiman kills Sumala at birth, unknowingly breaking the pact.

The agreement required both children to be raised with care until their tenth birthday, after which the devil would claim the deformed child.

The story follows Sulastri () and Soedjiman ( Darius Sinathrya ), a wealthy couple desperate for a child. Under immense pressure to provide an heir, Sulastri visits a shaman and makes a pact with the devil. She gives birth to twins: Kumala, who is kind but disabled, and Sumala, who is born deformed.
